IKO Roofing: The West Palm Beach Owner’s Guide
Elmstead Remodeling West Palm Beach installs and replaces IKO roofing systems throughout West Palm Beach, with full roof replacements running $8,000 – $20,000 and targeted repairs between $400 – $1,800. We keep the most common IKO shingle profiles, underlayment rolls, ridge caps, and flashing kits in our local inventory, so a straightforward repair can often be scheduled within days of your call, not weeks. Most homeowners discover they need us after a storm lifts a shingle edge, a hot attic reveals a ventilation failure, or they find granules collecting in a gutter after a dry-season wind. That granules-in-the-gutter detail is usually the first sign a roof has started shedding its protective layer in our humidity and UV.
We’re an independent West Palm Beach contractor. We’re not affiliated with IKO, but we’ve worked with their products long enough to know exactly which profiles hold up in coastal Florida air and which need more frequent attention. Graham Stein has walked every roof we’ve touched in this market, and we write the price down before a single shingle comes off the pallet.
Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO makes several shingle lines that appear frequently on West Palm Beach homes: Cambridge, Dynasty, Nordic, and the older Marathon series. Each line has its own profile height, exposure width, and adhesive strip placement, which means a Cambridge shingle does not seal the same way a Dynasty does. If you’re pulling a sample for us, look for the line name printed on the wrapper or on the back of a loose shingle. If it’s worn off, measure the exposure: Cambridge runs 5-5/8 inches, Dynasty runs 5-7/8 inches, and Nordic runs 5-1/2 inches. That single measurement prevents the most common mismatch we see, which is a contractor dropping a Cambridge-class shingle onto a Dynasty roof and the tone and texture never quite matching.
The OEM versus aftermarket decision matters for IKO specifically because their adhesive strip, that tar line on the underside, activates at a temperature range that cheap aftermarket products don’t always match in Florida heat. We’ve seen aftermarket shingles fail to seal in February, then blow off in the first March thunderstorm. For IKO work, we recommend matching the shingle line exactly with OEM or IKO-authorized equivalents. The underlayment and ridge cap are less brand-sensitive, but the shingle itself should be the same profile and, ideally, the same factory color batch. IKO color lots drift slightly, which is why we photograph the existing roof before ordering.

Signs Your IKO Roofing Is Failing
- Granules in the gutters or at downspout outlets. IKO shingles shed surface granules as the asphalt begins to oxidize. In West Palm Beach, where nine months of the year runs hot and humid, this can start as early as year 10 on the older Marathon line and year 12 – 15 on Cambridge or Dynasty.
- Shingle edges curling or lifting at the corners. This usually means the adhesive strip has lost its grip or the shingle deck below it has trapped moisture. Once the corners lift, wind-driven rain finds the nail line, and the leak follows within a season.
- Dark streaks running down the roof slope. This is algae feeding on the limestone filler in the shingle granules itself. It is not simply cosmetic: algae holds moisture against the shingle surface, and that moisture accelerates granule loss in Florida’s climate.
- Brittle or cracking shingles, especially on south-facing slopes. South-facing roofs in Florida take UV for 6 – 8 hours a day, every day. When an IKO shingle has baked to the point of cracking, the repair window is closing, and replacing one shingle often turns into replacing an entire section.
- Attic heat rising noticeably from year to year. On IKO systems, ridge vent and soffit vent condition determines how fast the shingles cook. A blocked soffit on a home built in the 1990s is one of the most common root causes of early IKO failure we document in West Palm Beach attics.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In West Palm Beach, IKO roof repair jobs range from $400 to $1,800, depending on how many shingles are compromised and whether the underlayment beneath them has failed. A full IKO roof replacement runs $8,000 to $20,000, with the range driven by roof square footage, pitch, whether the old roof needs a full tear-off, and whether we’re replacing the underlayment and ventilation at the same time. We tell you the parts cost and the labor cost separately, in writing, before any work begins. No estimate that grows after the crew arrives. The workmanship is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right.
Every job includes drop cloths and shoe covers inside the house, quiet tools where the schedule allows, and a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves. Pets and kids are part of the plan, not an afterthought. We ask before we move anything.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely inspect from the ground with binoculars: look for lifted corners, missing shingles, or granule streaks. You can also check the attic on a dry afternoon for water stains on the underside of the roof deck. What you should not do is climb onto an IKO roof in West Palm Beach and attempt a repair. The shingle surface gets hot enough to soften the asphalt, which makes the roof slick and the shingle brittle at the same time, and moving across it often loosens adhesive strips on the shingles you don’t touch. Add a second story or a steep pitch and the risk is not worth it. If you suspect roof failure, call (728) 203-3270. We’ll inspect it, photograph it, and give you a written price before you decide anything.
FAQs

Expect 15 – 20 years for most IKO Cambridge and Dynasty roofs in West Palm Beach, depending on attic ventilation and tree shade. Poor ventilation can pull that down to 12 years on a south-facing slope.
Yes, if the decking below the shingles is still sound and the damage is confined to a section. If the underlayment has torn or rotted, or if granule loss is widespread, a repair won’t hold. Call (728) 203-3270 for an honest assessment and a written quote either way.
A section repair is usually a one-day job. A full tear-off and replacement on a typical West Palm Beach home runs two to four days, weather permitting.
We keep common IKO Cambridge and Dynasty profiles on hand, along with underlayment and ridge caps. Uncommon colors and the Nordic line are ordered from our supplier on a per-job basis, which adds a few days to the schedule.
