Ameristar Kitchen Remodeling: The West Palm Beach Owner’s Guide

Most Ameristar kitchen remodels in West Palm Beach run between $14,000 and $45,000 installed, depending on whether you’re replacing cabinet fronts and hardware or tearing down to studs. We stock Ameristar-compatible cabinet hardware, hinges, drawer slides, and trim pieces on our trucks, and we can usually source cabinet doors and panels within a week through our supplier network. The call usually starts the same way: a drawer that won’t close, a hinge that’s sagging, or a cabinet face that’s delaminating from Florida humidity.

What you’re seeing isn’t a full kitchen failure. It’s a specific part of your Ameristar cabinetry or kitchen system that has worn out, and it can usually be replaced without touching the rest of the kitchen. We’ve done enough of these in neighborhoods from Flamingo Park to El Cid to know that the fix is often smaller than the fear. Before you start pulling cabinet doors off, let’s get specific about what you have.

Which Ameristar Models This Applies To

Ameristar kitchens in West Palm Beach fall into two broad groups: the frameless European-style cabinet lines and the face-frame traditional builds. The difference matters because the hinge cup size is not interchangeable. Frameless Ameristar cabinets use a 35mm hinge cup with a full-overlay door, while the face-frame series typically runs a 26mm cup or a compact 1/2-inch overlay hinge. If you order the wrong cup size, the door sits proud of the cabinet box or won’t seat at all.

To identify what you have, open a cabinet door and look inside. On the hinge there will be a stamped number: something like A35, A26, or a series code followed by a measurement. If the stamp has faded, measure the hole in the back of the door itself. A 35mm hole is about the diameter of a half-dollar. A 26mm hole is closer to a quarter. Write that down before you order anything.

For OEM versus aftermarket: Ameristar hinges and slides are made to a tight tolerance, but Blum and Salice make direct-fit replacements for most Ameristar frameless lines that are equal or better in wear rating. For drawer slides, we default to Blum Tandem or Grass Dynapro equivalents. For hinges, the Ameristar OEM is fine but more expensive than it needs to be when a Blum 110-degree clip-top with the same cup depth does the same job for about half the part cost. We’ll show you both prices on the written estimate, with the manufacturer warranty noted for each.

One more thing: Ameristar used three different drawer-box depths in their West Palm Beach – area installs over the years, and the slide length does not tell you the full story. We measure the box depth and the drawer front weight before selecting a slide, because a heavy solid-wood drawer front on a lightweight slide will sag within a year in Florida’s humidity.

Signs Your Ameristar Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • A drawer that scrapes or sticks on one side. This usually means one slide has worn or bent while the other is still intact. Left alone, the good slide takes the extra weight and fails next. We see this most in the pot-and-pan drawer under the cooktop, where the load is heaviest.
  • A cabinet door that won’t stay closed. The spring inside the hinge has lost tension or the clip has cracked. This is the most common Ameristar hinge failure in West Palm Beach, and it’s a 10-minute fix with the right replacement hinge.
  • Soft-close no longer catches. The damper piston inside the hinge or slide has leaked, usually after years of humidity cycling. It’s not rebuildable; the hinge or slide gets replaced. The good news is you can upgrade to a newer soft-close with a longer damper stroke than the original.
  • Laminate lifting at the cabinet face edges. This is moisture working its way into the substrate, and it happens faster in West Palm Beach than almost anywhere. The fix early is a quality edge-banding job; the fix late is a new door or face frame. If you see bubbling near the sink or dishwasher, call before it spreads.
  • Drawer front pulling away from the box. The dowels or cam locks that connect the front to the drawer sides have loosened. In Ameristar cabinets, this is often from repeated overloading and the daily expansion-contraction cycle of Florida air. If the drawer box itself is still square, we can rebuild the connection stronger than factory.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s how kitchen remodeling pricing breaks down in West Palm Beach when you’re replacing Ameristar parts rather than doing a full kitchen replacement:

  • Hardware replacement (hinges, slides, pulls) for a 20-door kitchen: $400 to $1,800 installed, depending on whether we’re swapping in Blum or keeping OEM Ameristar
  • Cabinet door or drawer front replacement (per piece): $120 to $400 per door or front, matched to your existing species and finish
  • Full cabinet refacing: $6,000 to $14,000, which replaces every door, drawer front, and hinge while keeping the existing boxes
  • Partial kitchen remodel (counters, backsplash, hardware, one or two cabinet areas): $14,000 to $25,000
  • Full kitchen remodel down to studs: $25,000 to $45,000

Every estimate includes the part cost, the labor, and the specific brand and model of what we’re installing. That’s not an add-on; it’s how we’ve written every estimate since we started. The written price is in your hands before the first tool is unpacked, and it doesn’t change when the crew arrives. Our work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not right, we make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

Some of this you can absolutely do yourself. A single loose hinge screw can be tightened with a #2 Phillips and a drop of wood glue on a toothpick to fill the stripped hole. A drawer slide that has simply popped out of its bracket can be clipped back in with a firm push. If the drawer opens and closes smoothly after that, you’re done.

The dangerous part is not the hardware itself, it’s the weight. A loaded pot drawer with a failed slide can drop suddenly and take fingers with it. Ammonia-based cleaners on laminate edges make delamination worse in West Palm Beach’s humidity. And rushing a hinge replacement with the wrong cup size means holes in the door that can’t be undone. If the repair involves lifting a heavy drawer out, dealing with a delaminating face, or ordering parts you’d have to match by measurement, call us at (728) 203-3270. Graham Stein walks each job site himself before the work starts, and the written estimate is yours before you commit.
