Toto Bathroom Remodeling: The West Palm Beach Owner’s Guide
When a Toto fixture or component in your West Palm Beach bathroom fails, the fix usually means matching the exact model to the right replacement part and installing it so the original warranty stays intact. Elmstead Remodeling West Palm Beach stocks and installs Toto-compatible bathroom components as part of full bathroom remodels, with most jobs in West Palm Beach running $9,000 – $28,000 depending on scope, and we can usually have a crew on site within 72 hours after the written estimate is approved.
Most owners we hear from in Flamingo Park and El Cid call because a Toto toilet fill valve keeps running, a washlet seat stopped warming, or a tile surround around a Toto soaking tub has started failing, pulling grout and letting water behind the wall. By the time you are reading page after page of model numbers, the real question is simpler: can this bathroom be put back together right, with Toto parts still in it, for a price you can see in writing before anyone picks up a tool.
We can answer that. The crew at Elmstead Remodeling West Palm Beach has worked with Toto’s Drake, Ultramax, and Neorest lines for years, and Graham Stein walks every job site himself before a single drop cloth goes down. If you have a Toto part that is failing or already failed, call (728) 203-3270 and we will tell you what we would do, and what it costs, before you decide anything.
Which Toto Models This Applies To

Toto makes dozens of fixture lines that show up regularly in West Palm Beach homes built or remodeled from the early 2000s forward, and each has its own replacement-part logic. The Drake and Drake II lines are the most common in this area, and their 1.6 and 1.28 GPF flush valves and fill valves are not interchangeable, even though the tanks look nearly identical from the outside. The Ultramax and Ultramax II one-piece models use a different gasket set and a flush valve that sits 3/8 inch lower than the Drake, a detail that matters when you’re trying to stop a silent leak at the tank-to-bowl joint.
The Neorest and Washlet lines are a different animal entirely. These have integrated bidet functions, heated seats, and electronic control modules, and the aftermarket for their internal parts is thin. For Washlet seats in particular, we recommend OEM Toto components even when a cheaper generic looks like it would fit. The pin spacing on the mounting plate changed between the 300-series and 500-series Washlets, and a seat that seems to “almost” clip on will crack the plastic under a 200-pound load. We have replaced enough of those to know.
To identify your model, lift the tank lid and look at the inside back wall. Toto stamps the model number there, and on one-piece models it is on the back of the bowl near the floor. Bring that number to the phone call with us, not just the brand name. It changes which parts actually fit, and it is the difference between a one-trip fix and a two-trip fix.
Elmstead Remodeling West Palm Beach is an independent remodeling contractor. We are not affiliated with Toto USA, though we specify and install their products regularly.

Signs Your Toto Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- The fill valve runs for 10 – 20 seconds after every flush, then stops. The Toto fill valve diaphragm has hardened, often due to West Palm Beach’s chlorinated municipal water. The valve still closes, but slowly, and that slow close is the first sign it is on borrowed time.
- The tank refills every 20 – 40 minutes when nobody has flushed. This is almost always the flapper or flush valve gasket losing its seal. On Toto models the flapper is a specific shape, not a universal round flap, and a generic replacement often leaves a slow leak that adds $8 – $15 a month to the water bill.
- The washlet seat heats intermittently or shows a blinking light. The control board is reading a fault from the heating element or the seat sensor. This is not a part to chase with a screwdriver, and the fix usually means a new OEM control unit, which we order from Toto’s distribution network and install once it arrives.
- Water stains appear on the ceiling below a second-floor bathroom, or baseboards swell near the tub. The Toto fixture may be fine. The tile flange, grout, or shower pan around it has failed, and water is traveling along the subfloor. In West Palm Beach, the humidity plus salt air near the Intracoastal means this shows up faster than it would inland.
- The porcelain has a hairline crack that only appears when the room is cold. A cracked Toto bowl or tank is not repairable. Stop using the fixture, shut the supply valve, and call us. A cracked tank under pressure can let go without much warning, and a second-floor leak in a West Palm Beach home moves fast once it starts.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Toto bathroom remodel in West Palm Beach, where we are replacing the fixture, addressing the wall or floor around it, and updating the finishes, runs $9,000 – $28,000. That range covers everything from a modest guest bath with a Drake toilet, a new vanity, and a shower surround, up to a primary bath with a Toto Neorest, a tile walk-in shower with a Schluter waterproofing system, and custom cabinetry from KraftMaid or Wellborn.
What drives the spread: the size of the room, whether you are moving plumbing, whether the subfloor has to come up, and which Toto line you choose. A Drake toilet installed is a few hundred dollars. A Washlet or Neorest is a different purchase entirely. Countertops from Cambria or Silestone add cost but carry manufacturer warranties you can verify independently, and we pass the documentation to you at completion.
Every estimate from Elmstead Remodeling West Palm Beach is a written price delivered before any work starts. The line items name the Toto part by model number, the labor to install it, the materials by brand and quantity, and the start and end window. If the scope does not change, neither does the price. The work itself carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it is not done right after the job is complete, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
There is a honest split here, and it depends on what part failed. A running fill valve on a Drake is a $25 OEM part and a 20-minute job if you have a basin wrench and the water supply shuts off cleanly. We are not going to tell you that you need us for that. We would rather you spend the money on the right Toto diaphragm and keep the change.
The line we draw is at anything that involves water sealing behind walls, electrical components in Washlet or Neorest units, or a cracked porcelain fixture. A washlet seat contains a heating element wired to 120 volts, and a cracked tank under pressure is a real hazard, not a weekend project. The same goes for tile work around a Toto tub: if the waterproofing underneath is failing, a caulk tube will not fix it, and the months it takes to find that out are months of water working through the subfloor.
If you are not sure which side of the line your problem falls on, call (728) 203-3270. We will tell you what we would do, and whether it is a job for us or a trip to the hardware store. That answer is free, and it is an honest one.
FAQs

A Toto porcelain fixture itself can last 20 – 30 years with normal use, but the internal parts fail on a shorter cycle. In West Palm Beach, the chlorinated water and occasional hard-water mineral buildup means fill valves and flappers typically need replacement every 5 – 8 years. The porcelain, tank, and bowl can go decades if they are not struck hard or exposed to freezing, which we do not really get down here, so the long game is usually worth it.
No. A hairline crack in porcelain is a structural failure, not a cosmetic one, and no epoxy or sealant is rated to hold a pressurized tank together over time. Shut the water supply and replace the fixture. The good news is a Drake or Ultramax bowl and tank set is usually in stock or a few days out, and the swap is a same-day job for our crew once the new fixture is on site.
A straightforward guest bath remodel with a Toto fixture, new vanity, and surround typically takes 7 – 10 working days. A primary bath with tile, a Neorest or Washlet, and a custom shower takes 2 – 4 weeks depending on the scope. Every Elmstead Remodeling West Palm Beach estimate includes a firm start and end window in writing, and we call if anything shifts before it shifts, not after.
We stock the most common Toto wear items, like Drake fill valves, flappers, and tank gaskets, on the truck for service calls. For Washlet control units, Neorest components, and less common models, we order OEM parts through Toto’s distribution network, and those usually arrive within 3 – 5 business days in West Palm Beach. Call (728) 203-3270 and give us your model number, and we will tell you exactly what is in stock and what is a day or two out.
